Diesel Dave Diesel Cleaning

Dave Graham has lived on a boat in the East Midlands for 20 years with his family, and has a vast knowledge of boats and boating life. Since being made redundant, never having been one to idly sit around, Dave has honed his skills and knowledge and now offers a competitive diesel cleaning service for boaters and others who store fuel.

Diesel bug is a microbial contamination of diesel fuel. Diesel contains up to 7% biodiesel that attracts water more than any other fuel. The presence of water in a fuel tank creates the ideal conditions for bacteria to grow causing diesel bug. Water can get into diesel fuel as a result of condensation, rainwater penetration or absorption from the air.

Diesel bug looks like slime or sludge and can cause catastrophic damage to engines and fuel tanks. The bug  multiplies very quickly, doubling in size every 20 minutes, so it doesn’t take long before the diesel bug causes problems including;

  • Difficulty starting engines
  • Engines losing power and cutting out
  • Blocked filters
  • A bad smell and black smoke
  • Corrosion of the fuel tank

Dave will visit you the day prior to carrying out the diesel cleaning to put a pre-treatment into your fuel tank. The next day he will arrive with his machine to carry out the diesel clean.

The machine is set up with 3 different stages of filtering. By the time the smallest filter is used there will be no more diesel bug in your tank. This takes 2 to 3 hours. Following the clean Dave will put a treatment into the fuel tank to prevent the growth of diesel bug.

Dave is based on Nottingham & Derbyshire border but is happy to travel further afield.

If you’ve water in your diesel, you’re at risk of getting diesel bug. Don’t delay, deal with it today.
